Rodeo Drive

I have never seen so many expensive cars in one place in my life! Everyone in Beverly Hills is thin, rich and beautiful!! Even the fat people are thin and the ugly people are beautiful! It was truly a day to remember. Since I'm just back at the hotel to get ready for the night adventures I won't write much but will leave some pics!

Saw the pic below and now have that "Beverly Hills Cop" theme song stuck in my head!

Santa Monica

It's 5:00 a.m. in Los Angeles and my body is still on CST time so I'm up and staring out the window at the city scape. L.A. could rival New York for the city that never sleeps! It makes Atlanta look sleepy!

I had dinner last night in Santa Monica with two new friends. I had a California burger that was made out of something healthy so I didn't want to ask what was in it! We also did a beauty treatment each yesterday and mine was new eyelashes and the haircut. The eyelashes are lllloooonnnngggg and I love 'em! Everyone here has them so, of course, I had to have them! I'm amazed at the availability of beauty stuff, etc here...saw and billboard advertising the Lap Band procedure done in 1 hour, walk-in clinic, they would file your insurance, etc. Back home you'd have to have 3 consultations, go to Flower's for mass quantities of pre-op proceedures, etc etc! The boutique where I had my hair cut also does Botox and will give you Latesse without a prescription (I do not even want to know where that stuff comes from! lol). Then we went past an orthodontist and you can get a full set of "beautiful braces" (whatever those are) for $108 or Envisalign for $28 per set (now that I would jump on if I lived here). I guess there's just such competition that prices are lower. Whatever the reason it's easy to see why folks here are so beautiful and "well preserved".

I'm thinking since I'm up that I'll go grab some free hotel breakfast grub and take it to check out the sunset over Santa Monica Boulevard, and here's the song that is still stuck in my head from last night:

I'm gonna need a vacation after this vacation!

What a day today! Due to time complications I didn't make the Craig Ferguson show (I'm still pouting) but Chelsea was great and today was her birthday! I did get my California Hair Cut!! This is a bad pic (taken after hours of rushing, wind, etc) but you can get an idea. I'll fix it up before my date with Adam (ok, he doesn't know it's a date, just my imagination) and take more pics. Gotta go forage for food (on hour 11 without any) and sleep off some of the time zone difference/early flight. More soon.

Jen: My eyelashes rock like the Rolling Stones!!!

For a comparison on the before and after hair...here's a pic from when I had just landed in L.A. I asked some random kid to take my pic...he didn't quite know what to do with my accent!

Leavin' On A Jet Plane

All my bags are packed and I'm ready to go...hmmm, sounds like a great song lyric (for those of you reading this that are too young to know...it really is a song lyric...thanks, John Denver).

That's right, the bags are packed and ready to hit the road at the end of the school day tomorrow. I'll spend the night with Will then head to the airport at the crack of dawn! I'll be in L.A. before most of you eat lunch!! Just like being a time traveler! lol

I'm so excited Will is probably make me stay in the car all night so that I don't keep him awake bouncing of the walls!

In case you need details...my toenails are painted (because it's warm enough there for flip flops! That's right, read it and weep!), my dress and boots for the concert are safely tucked in my carry-on, and Nash the Wonderdog has his bag packed to head to Grandmother's house (although he is pouting because he's being left behind).

Now it's time to head to bed (so that tomorrow comes more quickly)...I promise pics with my next post.

Note: A couple of you have asked what a Mabelline Vacation means - It's just a phrase I stole from a Twitter comment. Adam asked, via Twitter, what were some of his fan's favorite lyrics from his new album. One gal wrote in "the line about taking a Maybelline Vacation". Well, the real lyric is "take a make-believe vacation" (insert small giggle here). The tweet became a fun reference from then on. :)

From L.A. to L.A.

Welcome to my Mabelline Vacation! Don't worry, I'm not heading to LA without make-up...California doesn't deserve that scare. In fact, I'm heading out with some rather pricey make-up. lol

You've probably dropped in because I sent you a link to the blog, but in case you have no idea what's going on...I'm heading out on a pilgrimage! Next week I'm flying to LA to see my fav rock wild child, Adam Lambert, in concert. I'm flailing at the keyboard with excitement! I'm gonna be a total fangirl! Of course, while in the big city I'm going to see the sights and take advantage of some of the things the California LA has to offer that the South's LA doesn't...like the Chelsea Lately Show (I love her irreverence), the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (who doesn't swoon at a Scottish accent), tap my tootsies on Rodeo Drive, and take time for a hair cut (wonder if I'll recognize myself!). Oh, and did I mention Adam Lambert?!!!

I've loved the reactions I've gotten when I've told folks I'm flying all the way across the country to go to see Adam Lambert..."really?", "are you crazy?", "oh, he's so controversial", "I'm jealous", and my personal favorite: "by yourself?!!?" That one totally cracks me up! Where were those people when I would cry so hard I'd leave a trail of mascara in my wake under the weight of trying to be strong enough to be a mom and a dad to my son for 20 years? They obviously missed the memo about the difficulties of being a single parent vs. a fun trip across the country! But when I hear "OMG, you're really going alone?"... I just smile (because I'm laughing inside) and say "yep, ain't it great!". And it is!!

So stay tuned for my pics and posts as I leave Lower Alabama and head to Los Angeles!

(In case you missed it...I'm get to see Adam Lambert?! lol )
